Some girls may get a new haircut for summer. Others might try out a new bronzer. But Emma Roberts may just outdo them all.

On her summer agenda: “I want to try colored mascaras this summer,” she tells PEOPLE. “Maybe dye my hair a cool color. I love seeing girls do that.”

She didn’t give up any hints on hue (here’s hoping for bright purple!) but since we’ve gotten a glimpse at her artistic side as the Vans Custom Culture ambassador this year, we think she may just go bright.

The star (who is serving on a judging panel in the June 11 contest to determine which finalist high school will receive $50,000 from Vans for their arts program) doodled on her own pair of pair of Vans (above) to help rev up participation in the competition.

“I wanted to do a girlie take on classic Vans. That’s why I did the classic checkers but also did lips and a heart [on the toes],” she tells us.

That’s all well and good, but how do the rest of us wear sneakers with our everyday outfits? “I wear black lace-up Vans with everything from dresses to denim shorts,” she says, noting that her go-to outfit would be Genetic denim shorts, a cute tank and aviators. Also on her wish list: a white Proenza Schouler bag that “I’m dying over,” Elkin dresses and lots of vintage.

Emma Roberts, who most recently starred in Fox pilot Delirium, is nearing a deal to join American Horror Story: Coven, our sister site TVLine reports. Roberts (Scream 4) will play a self-involved party girl named Madison. She’ll join previously announced Oscar winner Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe for Season 3.

IFC Films has acquired North American rights to Scott Coffey’s comedy “Adult World,” starring Emma Roberts as an employee at a sex shop.

IFC is planning a day and date release in theaters and on VOD. “Adult World” premiered April 20 at Tribeca.

Evan Peters, John Cusack, Armando Riesco, Cloris Leachman and Shannon Woodward also star. Producers are Justin Nappi and Kevin Turen of Treehouse Pictures with Joy Gorman, Alex Goldstone and Manu Gargi.

Story, penned by Andy Cochran, centers on a young woman living with her parents who’s anxious to get her poetry career off the ground. She begrudgingly accepts a job at Adult World, the local sex shop.

Ronnie Schieb wrote in her review for Variety: “Coffey’s loose, casual style, tilting toward the performance-centric and improvisational — as with his 2005 debut, ‘Ellie Parker,’ starring genius-caliber actress Naomi Watts — cannot fully accommodate the presence of former kidvid starlet Emma Roberts (‘Nancy Drew’), heading an otherwise comfortable, quite excellent cast. Nevertheless, the film’s coyly titillating subject matter and John Cusack’s delicious star turn as a curmudgeonly, once-lionized poet should support a limited run.”

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.

This year’s pilot season has claimed its first online fandom victims.

Fox has decided to not move forward with Delirium, an ambitious sci-fi novel adaptation starring Emma Roberts as a 17-year-old in a dystopian future where love is outlawed. Billy Campbell also starred. The pilot was based on the bestselling young adult novels by Lauren Oliver. Instead Fox ordered J.J. Abrams’ robot cops drama, a Sleepy Hollow series, and two others.

A second project with a notable following that was rejected Wednesday: NBC’s adaption of the comic book series The Sixth Gun, which is based on a best-selling supernatural graphic novel that follows the story of six mythical guns, each with its own other-worldly powers. Michiel Huisman and Laura Ramsey starred in that one.

NBC also passed on a present-date update of the feuding families tale Hatfields & McCoys. Virginia Madsen and Rebecca De Mornay starred. Which NBC pilots are getting picked up has yet to be announced.

We recently raised the idea that broadcasters should consider the Amazon model of putting pilots online and letting viewers weigh in before making these decisions. You have to wonder: Would Fox and NBC’s choices have been any different? (Delirium had fans pushing a Twitter campaign urging Fox to pick up the show). And, if network decisions were different, would the choices have performed better or worse, ultimately? Interesting to consider, though no way to really know.

Paul Giamatti, Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, John Cusack, Emma Roberts, Melissa Leo, Julianne Moore, Emile Hirsch and Zac Efron are among the stars in 43 premieres announced Wednesday for the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival.

The fest’s first group of films, comprising World Narrative and Documentary competitions and Viewpoints, were announced on Tuesday. The new announcement comprises the Spotlight, Midnight, Special Screenings and Storyscapes selections.

The festival runs from April 17-28.

The Spotlight section features 33 films — 21 narratives and 12 documentaries.

Highlights include “Adult World,” in which Emma Roberts plays a starving poet forced to work at a sex shop while being mentored by a reclusive writer played by John Cusack. In the buddy comedy “Almost Christmas,” Paul Giamatti and Paul Rudd (above left) play two hapless troublemakers making a quick buck selling Christmas tree in New York City.

In year lucky number seven, Gasparilla International Film Festival is looking to separate itself from the 2nd-tier film fest pack and join the elite.

On March 19th, GIFF’s opening night curtain jerker is Empire State. Directed by Dito Montiel (Fighting, The Son of No One) and produced by Randall Emmett (End of Watch), the crime drama features Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. The Rock), Liam Hemsworth, Emma Roberts, Jerry Ferrara, and Nikki Reed. Montiel, Emmett, and Ferrara are confirmed to attend the flick’s world premiere while the rest of the aforementioned cast has been invited to join the six-day festival that takes place in Tampa, Florida. Emmett, from Miami, will receive the fest’s Florida Producer of the Year honors.

Fox has found its young male lead for Delirium.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Daren Kagasoff has landed the male lead opposite Emma Roberts in the network’s adaptation of the books by Lauren Oliver, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The books depict a world in which love is deemed illegal and is able to be eradicated with a special procedure. With 95 days to go until her scheduled treatment, Lena Holoway (Roberts) does the unthinkable: she falls in love.

Kagasoff will play Alex, the object of Lena’s affections. He’s a uniformed police officer who on the surface appears tough, smug and a rigid enforcer of the government’s rules. Underneath, he’s a man with a secret agenda: He’s a member of an anti-government group led by Lawrence Tack, one that is infiltrating the most oppressive elements of society while hiding the fact that he still has a mind of his own. A vehement opponent of the government’s plan to eradicate love, Alex finds himself intensely attracted to Lena. To explore a future together, he must protect her from receiving the government’s curative procedure and convert her to his cause.

Prison Break’s Karyn Usher will pen the pilot and executive produce the 20th Television entry alongside Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope, Paul Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan. The Killing’s Billy Campbell will play Thomas Fineman, a conservative political leader who opposed the social chaos caused by “delria” and supports the use of brain modification that prevents citizens from falling in love.

Kagasoff, repped by CAA and John Carrabino Management, plays Ricky Underwood in ABC Family’s recently canceled Secret Life, which ends its five-season run in June.

Gregg Sulkin has just joined the cast of the upcoming Fox series Delirium!

According to Deadline, the 20-year-old British actor has landed a role in the small screen adaption, based on the book of the same name from Lauren Oliver.

Delirium is set in world where love is deemed illegal and is able to be eradicated with a special procedure. But with 95 days to go until her scheduled treatment, defiant teen Lena Holoway (Emma Roberts) does the unthinkable and falls in love.

Gregg is set to play Julian Fineman, the son of wealthy political leader who supports the use of the brain modification, which has Julien conflicted about having to undergo a surgery to remove his feelings.

Emma Roberts is returning to TV as the star of Fox’s Delirium.

The Nancy Drew and Scream 4 actress has been cast in the lead role in Fox’s pilot based on the bestselling young adult novels by Lauren Oliver.

The books take place in an alternative present-day Maine when civilization has been partly destroyed by war and a totalitarian government teaches that love is literally a disease (commonly called the delirium). There’s a surgical cure for love that’s mandatory for citizens 18 and older. The story follows 17-year-old Lena (Roberts) who is eagerly awaiting her turn to get the cure when she falls in love with an Invalid (a person who hasn’t taken the cure that lives in the wilderness). Not surprisingly, the story has draw some comparisons to “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight”.

Roberts previously starred in the Nickelodeon series “Unfabulous” then went onto big-screen roles including the upcoming Empire State and We’re the Millers. Karyn Usher (Prison Break) wrote the pilot and is an executive producer alongside Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope, Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan on the 20th Century Fox TV project.
