Eating pizza as a viable workout? Sorry people, Emma Roberts is just teasing you.
“My favorite workout is eating pizza…No!” Roberts joked. “My favorite workout is definitely Pilates. That’s kind of the only thing I’ve tried and stuck with.”
Yeah, that’s what we thought.
E! News exclusively caught up with the American Horror Story: Freak Show actress on all things beauty and health at Target’s Annual After-Hours Shopping event. All kidding aside, Roberts has one healthy food tip that she swears gives her glowing skin: coconut water.
The 23-year-old also credits Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash for her flawless complexion, and swears that removing makeup every night is the number one law to good skin care maintenance. But as for what really makes the actress glow? That’s easy.
“I feel my most beautiful probably just when I am laughing and having fun with my friends and kind of not caring what I look like,” Roberts said.

American Horror Story’s Emma Roberts and Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka have joined the horror project February.
Osgood Perkins, the son of Psycho actor Anthony Perkins, wrote the script and will direct. The story follows two girls whose parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break at their prep school. As a haunted woman named Joan makes a bloody pilgrimage to the prestigious girls’ school, the stranded duo become plagued by terrifying visions and possessed by an unseen evil force.
The project is produced by Unbroken Pictures’ Adrienne Biddle and Bryan Bertino, and Rob Paris’ Paris Film, Inc.
Highland Film Group is handling international sales on the project, and will introduce it to buyers at the Toronto market in September.
Perkins, who is also an actor, wrote the script for 2013’s Cold Comes the Night. He’s repped by Paradigm.
Roberts starred on the third season of FX’s American Horror Story. In film, she most recently appeared in comedy hit We’re the Millers and indie Palo Alto. She’s repped by CAA and Sweeney Entertainment.
Shipka is best known for starring as Don Draper’s (Jon Hamm) daughter on AMC’s hit show Mad Men. She also appeared in TV’s Flowers in the Attic and indie Very Good Girls. She’s repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer.
The poster art work for American Horror Story: Freak Show was released today!
Since just have a small version right now I am guessing Emma is the one in pink behind Evan Peters character?! Emma’s character remains a mystery…
Kathy Bates as the bearded lady. Michael Chiklis as the strong man. A two-headed Sarah Paulson. Sword eaters and oh so much more.
That’s just a hint of what’s to come, judging from The Hollywood Reporter’s exclusive cast art for American Horror Story: Freak Show (below). This is the first look at what co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have in store for the upcoming fourth season of the FX anthology series.
Season four of the FX anthology starts in Florida, circa 1952, and centers on a “troupe of curiosities” that arrives at the same time that a dark entity emerges, threatening the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. From the official description: “This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amid the dying world of the American carny experience.”
Jessica Lange stars as Elsa Mars, a German expat managing one of the last remaining freak shows in the country. Emma Roberts is set as Maggie; Paulson is Bette and Dot Tattler; Bates is Effil Darling; Chiklis is Wendell Del Toredo; Angela Bassett is Desiree Dupree; and Evan Peters is Jimmy Darling. Frances Conroy and Gabourey Sidibe will also return to the cast, which includes newcomers Wes Bentley, Fargo’s John Carroll Lynch as the central villain and The Normal Heart’s Finn Wittrock as well as the world’s smallest living woman, Jyoti Amge. Patti LaBelle will also appear in a four-episode arc, with Matt Bomer set for a guest stint.
For every step down the red carpet, hours (days!) of prep time go into a celebrity’s look. We caught up with the gorgeous star of American Horror Story, Emma Roberts and found out her pre-Emmy’s secrets. “The most important part of my award night prep….it doesn’t really start the award night, it starts weeks before with getting into a routine of washing my face, and I do it twice daily with the Oil-Free Acne Wash in Pink Grapefruit ($9; target.com).” So what is the actress doing pre-Emmy’s? She told us that she gets ready with a bunch of girlfriends and they pop some bubbly while she’s getting ready (sounds fun!).
On the wild success of American Horror Story, Roberts says, “Our fans are the best fans!” and says she loves running into super-fans that dress up like the characters and quote lines from the show. We’re looking forward to seeing her walk the red carpet soon and she’ll be rooting for her 2nd favorite show, “I mean, my favorite show is Girls. I love Lena Dunham, I love all the girls on that show and I never get sick of watching it.”
It’s pretty obvious that Emma Roberts is becoming a style icon. The young starlet has a knack for pairing cool outfits with chic accessories … and let’s be honest, she has the dream hair we all wish for. So it makes a lot of sense that Elkin, an LA-based brand designed by sisters Brit and Kara Smith, would choose Roberts as a muse. Oh, and they all happen to be best friends too.
“It’s funny because when we started Elkin, we knew exactly who our girl was and what she was about … and now she has a face,” explained Kara Smith via email. “Emma has such a wild, fun, creative mind like us and she really identified with this collection. There was no one better to have around us during the FW14 design process and there was obviously no one better to model it.”
The trio hung out together conceptualizing the fall line, which is comprised of flowing dresses, tailored tops and cute separates inspired by a ’60s-meets-’90s aesthetic. “It’s classic but it also injects elements of decades past, using the ’90s and ’60s as some of [Emma’s] (and our) favorite eras to play with,” Brit Smith wrote to us. “The three of us always talk about how we love a dark, ’90s witchy look mixed with a classic ’60s French-inspired boarding school girl sort of look. So we merged these two looks for this collection.”
The lookbook was shot at the Paramour Mansion in Silver Lake, California, a locale that’s been everything from a school for girls to a movie set. “It felt like the three of us were playing dress up and running through Miss Havisham’s house or ‘The Secret Garden.’ It was like being at sleepover camp with your best friend … we were constantly laughing.” See the results of their fun day below.
