Screen Yorkshire has made its biggest production investment to date on $25m US-UK co-production Hunter’s Prayer (previously known as For The Dogs).
Avatar and Clash of the Titans star Sam Worthington will star as an assassin in director Jonathan Mostow’s (Terminator 3) thriller, which is due to shoot in the UK and Hungary in 2015.
The film is the first US production to get backing from Screen Yorkshire, which would not reveal the amount invested but confirmed it to be above £1m.
Casting is currently underway on the female lead. Emma Roberts and Hailee Steinfeld were both previously linked to the project but are no longer in the frame.

You heard it here first! Emma Roberts will be the next star to document the stylish journey of her Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, and InStyle.com has a sneak peek at her campaign. The brand is partnering with the actress as part of von Furstenberg’s Global Influencer Program Journey of a Dress, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the label’s iconic wrap dress that debuted in 1974.
“I first met Diane a year ago, where I got to be her guest at the Met Ball,” Roberts says. “I just remember being so excited to meet her because she’s such a fashion icon.”
The star is no newbie to von Furstenberg’s creations, having been a fan for years. “My first wrap dress I got as a teenager, and I remember wanting it so bad. I just fell in love with it,” she states. “My favorite thing about the wrap dress is just how timeless it is. It just never goes out of style.”
In February, the designer launched the digital campaign that follows her wrap dress around the world. The project, which kicked off with Coco Rocha, features a series of stylish influencers taking their von Furstenberg New Jeanne Two wrap dress in classic black-and-white chain link ($345; dvf.com) on a global tour. Roberts will document the journey of her wrap dress via social media throughout the summer beginning later this month. Interested to see where Roberts takes her famous wrap? Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts will be joining James Franco in the drama “Michael,” about an anti-gay pastor who was once gay himself, Variety has learned.
Quinto will play the former boyfriend of Franco’s character. Roberts is set to reteam with her “Palo Alto” co-star as his girlfriend. Chris Zylka (“The Leftovers”) is also attached to the film as another past love interest.
The script for “Michael” is based on “My Ex-Gay Friend,” a New York Times Magazine article by Benoit Denizet-Lewis (author of “Travels with Casey”) about Michael Glatze, a Christian minister from Wyoming who was so entrenched in gay culture before rejected his homosexuality, he founded a gay youth magazine. Justin Kelly will direct. Gus van Sant is the executive producer, along with producers James Franco, Vince Jolivette, Michael Mendelsohn, Ron Singer and Scott Reeve.
“This isn’t just a story about an ‘ex-gay,’” Kelly said. “It’s actually a very relatable story about the power of belief and the desire to belong.”
Added Denizet-Lewis: “I’m excited that everyone involved in this project is intent on telling a story that captures the full breadth of Michael’s unusual life, from the inspiring gay leader I knew when I was young to the Christian pastor he is today.”
